Work Permit

※ Foreign students, overseas Chinese students, and students from Hong Kong and Macau who wish to work in Taiwan (either on or off-campus) must first apply for and obtain a work permit before they can start working. 

※ If a work permit is not applied for as required and an individual works for someone else, they may be fined between NT$30,000 and NT$150,000 and be ordered to leave the country. Please pay special attention. 

※ According to the Employment Service Act, work hours are limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week, excluding winter and summer vacations.

--Work Permit Validity-- 

  • The maximum validity period for a work permit is 6 months. 
  • For applications made in the first semester, the work permit will be valid until March 31 of the following semester; for applications made in the second semester, the permit will be valid until September 30 of the same year. 
  • For graduating students, the permit is valid until June 30.

  • Photocopy of passport. 
  • Post office payment receipt (NT$100).

  • Apply for a new account 
  • Log in and add a new application case 
  • Enter application form details 
  • Review fees can be paid via ATM or post office. If unsure how to fill out the review fee, refer to the "?" next to the field for instructions. 
  • Upload documents 
  • Submit for school review 
  • Regularly check the system (click on case management) for the status of the case. If it shows "issued," it means the Ministry of Labor has completed the review. If there are issues with submission or if the application is returned or additional documents are needed, the system will display the reason. Please correct and resubmit. 
  • The Ministry of Labor will send the work permit to the International Office, which will notify students via email to pick it up.

  • Foreign students, overseas Chinese students, and students from Hong Kong and Macau applying for a work permit may be granted a maximum validity of 6 months. Their work hours are limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week, excluding winter and summer vacations. 
  • Those who do not follow the above regulations may have their work permits revoked by the Ministry according to the Employment Service Act. If a work permit is not applied for as required and the individual is employed, they will be fined between NT$30,000 and NT$150,000 and ordered to leave the country. 
  • According to the "Regulations for the Employment and Management of Foreign Workers," overseas Chinese students, students from Hong Kong and Macau, and foreign students enrolled in formal degree programs in Taiwan can apply after enrollment. However, foreign students studying language courses in Taiwan must complete at least one year of study before applying. 
  • Students who withdraw or suspend their studies must return their work permit to the school's counseling office if the permits are still valid. 
  • For applications made in the first semester, the work permit will be valid until March 31 of the following semester; for applications made in the second semester, it will be valid until September 30 of the same year.
