Meiho University, formerly known as Meiho Junior College of Nursing, was established in 1966 as Taiwan’s first private nursing college. In 2010, the institution was upgraded and officially renamed Meiho University. The University is committed to cultivating healthcare professionals with holistic education, strong professional skills, and a global perspective.
In response to globalization, Meiho University actively promotes a multilingual learning environment and international academic exchange. With long-term engagement in Southeast Asia, the University launched overseas programs in Vietnam in the 2007 academic year and has since educated nearly 700 alumni. Meiho continues to expand its international education system through initiatives such as Industry–Academia Collaboration Programs for New Southbound Countries, Overseas Chinese Student Cooperative Programs (3+4 years), and International Advanced Study Programs.
To provide a high-quality Mandarin learning environment for international learners, Meiho University established the Chinese Language Center in 2020, with approval from the Ministry of Education. The Center features modern classrooms and multimedia facilities. All instructors are professionally trained and certified in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL). Instruction is customized to strengthen students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, while also offering support for TOCFL certification.
The Chinese Language Center offers both proficiency-based Mandarin courses and profession-oriented courses, including Business, Long-Term Care, Hospitality, and Tourism Mandarin. Cultural courses and local experiential activities are also integrated to emphasize the combined learning of language and culture, thereby enhancing overall learning outcomes.
Aligned with the University’s development strategy and industry workforce needs, the Center focuses on Mandarin education as its core mission while incorporating Meiho University’s distinctive strengths to develop profession-focused Mandarin programs.
